Overlap-Add Synthesis of NonStationary Sinusoids

چکیده
In overlap-add synthesis of sinusoidal partials, amplitude modulation distortion can occur in the overlap region if the partial frequencies in successive frames diier. The frame-to-frame frequency changes can be accommodated by synthesizing linearly time-varying sinusoids (chirps) in adjacent frames. In this paper we present a new approach to chirp synthesis in which the distortion is eliminated by using a succession of chirp rates in each frame for each partial.

Efficient Fourier Synthesis of Nonstationary Sinusoids
This paper discusses an additional signal processing procedure for use in a recently proposed frequency-domain additive synthesizer 1, 2]. The overlap-add approach used in the frequency-domain synthesis can result in amplitude modulation in the overlap region between successive time frames if the partial frequencies in those frames are signiicantly diier-ent. A new method is proposed in which s...
متن کاملSynthesis of sinusoids via non-overlapping inverse Fourier transform
| Additive synthesis is a powerful tool for the analysis/modiication/synthesis of complex audio or speech signals. However, the cost of wavetable sinusoidal synthesis can become prohibitive for large numbers of sinusoids (more than a few hundred). In that case, techniques based on the inverse Fourier transform ooer an attractive alternative, being 200% to 300% more eecient than wavetable synthe...
متن کاملA Pitch-Asynchronous Simple Method for Speech Synthesis by Diphone Concatenation using the Deterministic plus Stochastic Model
One of the most common approaches to speech synthesis is the concatenation of diphones, extracted from a previously recorded database. The prosodic parameters of the recorded speech fragments have to be adapted to the specifications of the new utterances to be synthesized. In this paper, the deterministic plus stochastic model of speech is used to modify and smoothly concatenate the analyzed di...
متن کاملAdaptive Modeling of Synthetic Nonstationary Sinusoids
Nonstationary oscillations are ubiquitous in music and speech, ranging from the fast transients in the attack of musical instruments and consonants to amplitude and frequency modulations in expressive variations present in vibrato and prosodic contours. Modeling nonstationary oscillations with sinusoids remains one of the most challenging problems in signal processing because the fit also depen...
متن کاملIdentification of Nonstationary Audio Signals Using the FFT, with Application to Analysis-based Synthesis of Sound
In the analysis of sound (for synthesis), digitally sampled audio is processed to extract certain features. The resulting data can be synthesised to reproduce the original sound, or modified before synthesis to musically transform the sound. The analysis primarily uses a harmonic model, which considers a sound to be composed of multiple nonstationary sinusoids. The first stage of analysis is of...
